Copper patina is a thin, protective layer that forms on copper due to chemical reactions with its environment, resulting in a bluish- green or brown color. It can form naturally over many years through exposure to oxygen, moisture, and pollutants, or it can be created artificially using chemicals like salt, ammonia, and vinegar. The patina layer protects the underlying copper from further corrosion.
